Turmeric comes from the root of an Asian plant in the ginger family. It is said to have numerous health benefits. Among those are reducing the risk of some cancers, improving digestive function, reducing inflammation and easing menopause symptoms. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant.
The beneficial ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. It is best consumed in your diet but is available in capsule form as well.
It is very important to consume turmeric with black pepper, otherwise absorption will be very poor.
This recipe is not sweet, however, protein powders tend to increase the sweetness, making it all the more delicious.
As with all supplements, talk to your doctor before adding to your diet, especially if you are on medications.
